Since the AMC requires a list of the last years worth of hikes when ever I sign up for a hike I decided yesterday to put together a list of what I have done this year. LAME for the most part, not too many impressive hikes by anymeans. But maybe this next year. I think my biggest obstical was the thought of paying $50 plus dollars in gas to drive up for a hike, I think some hikes I was suppose to do I didn’t because of this, hence why I need to move up north, as you can see I am at Wachusett and Monadnock the most only because of proximity.
I want to be able to hike more in 2012, and maybe get more of the 4000er’s complete, why not right…

Hello,
Just wanted to say that your website was an inspiration for me to solo hike. I live in the White Mountains and have always been a runner. I wanted to try something different, so I got into hiking. It was very hard to find someone to hike with me.
So far, my solo hikes have been:
Mount Willard, Mount Kearsarge, Mount Chocorua (Piper Trail,) and my longest solo hike so far has been Red Ridge Trail to the North Moat Mountain summit and back down via Moat Mountain Trail (10.2 miles.)
I will start the 4,000s next year (I live pretty much in the middle of all of them.)
Thank you so much,
Kevin
Thanks..I need to update my hikes, I dropped off and haven’t added new ones.. Over the years I have hiked a lot with AMC and Meetups such as 4-Season Hikers, but a lot of time by myself. Also been able to encorage friends who were not hikers to come with me more often, even got a couple to do some backpacking trips with me. I have been starting to do a lot of trail running on Wachusett as of late, I have a couple back trails that I enjoy a great deal, I am able to mountain goat back down the mountain as I know the lay of the trails well enough to be confident.
I am jealous of those who live in NH, takes me 2-4 hours depending on where I am hiking to get up into the Whites so I either make a backpacking weekend out of it or make sure I hit multiple peaks…
Happy Trails…
