NPR will be talking about the new book “Why we love dogs. Eat Pigs and Wear Cows” which I am interested in listening too. This was a huge part of my ethics class in which I enjoyed debating. I do understand it is cultural because some countries do eat dogs but not pigs. But how do individuals separate one animal from another? I can’t do it, I love all animals and creatures. I have a spider relocation program and I enjoy the somewhat dirty pigeons outside my alley way windows in my apartment.
She discuss carnism, stating that vegetarians are always explaining their beliefs but those who eat animals also have a “belief” system. The system that teaches us not to feel or turn away from the truth. I have personally never been able to separate a pet from an animal on a farm, even the year I did eat meat I had to pretend to not think about what I was eating.
