Been on an Audio-books kick with my long commute each week. I figure I am in the car about 3 hours a day and I get so tired of listening to the same news over and over again.
Just finished a “Free” download from Audible.com called “Free- The Future of a Radical Price” by Chris Anderson the editor of Wired Magazine.

The book is about the economics of “free”. From a B1G1 business plan to digital free. He breaks down how huge companies such as Microsoft and Facebook allow for “free”. The biggest business model that is spoken about is the “Freemium” the model that 5% of your customers will support the other 95%, meaning if you have a free version and a premium version that an individual can purchase, in bits, not atoms that 5% of those will become premium members and in turn pay for the amount of receiving that service to those who do not pay.

I am not an economist, I have not taken financial coursework, but the audio-book was great to listen to and I believe I learned a bit about the economics of “free”.

Chris Anderson wanted to be able to test the “free” theory so he made the paper copy of this book for sale, while giving or “gifting” the digital format.

Very much recommended.
NY Times Book Review- written much better than mine :)

What a great weekend…

The last of freedom from school until December,it was a good weekend, busy but great. Tomorrow back to work and class again, the reality sits soaks in.

Friday night Neil and I went to the movies and saw “Extract”, directed by Mike Judge, the blue collar answer to Office Space, it was good, not as entertaining but good non the less.

Saturday was a busy getting things done around the house, brunch at the Abbey- Breakfast Slate was to die for this week. I was happy because fall equals Pumpking by Southern Tier…To die for.

Sunday a cookout at the rents house, I love squash and eggplant on the grill. Then we headed down to Pawtucket RI, for Rocktucket, 1st year music street festival on Main Street in Pawtucket. Mainly we went to see Sage Francis and B Dolan, who were amazing as always.
Here are some pics….

Strange Famous Records opened their new store location on the main floor of “The Grand” @ 250 Main Street in Pawtucket. Check it out….

I picked myself up a new sweatshirt as my Fuck Clear Channel one is getting a bit beat up. My favorite shirt by far, just NSFW.

Today I shopped with my favorite girlie…..Lots of fun…

I had a hit for “Lofts near Canal Worcester” I know the name of Kelly Sq changing to the Canal District can be tricky and make one believe that water runs through the city in a visible manner but sorry to burst your bubble, Worcester has failed at this intuitive also… As of right now you would need to be near Indian Lake or Lake Quinsigamond to find some water views in Worcester.

Pretty Things Vegetarian 50-mile Beer Dinner.

Sep

So I forgot to mention last weeks “Pretty Things Vegetarian Beer Dinner” @ the Armsby Abbey.
I do want to mention that everything was amazing, the ability to have 5 courses and beers that all come from a 50 mile vicinity and for it to be as amazing as it was, I applaud both Alec and Sherri and the Abbey staff for their hard work.
Candice Alstrom did the best job reviewing and photo capturing of the dinner here !!!!!

I have to say 5 courses with 5 beers plus a welcoming reception with amazing raw veggies. The dinner made me realize that I love BEETS…….. or at least fresh picked beets.

We left very full but very much satisfied.
