you could try the central mass rail-trail in West Boylston. It is very flat and goes about 1.5-2 miles:

I just moved here, from Amherst, and had a hard time finding a bike trail also. This is about 14 miles. it sucks, because I have to drive to Chandler street to get started in the morning…stupid hills.
